Here are my tips which, I learn from my mistakes to get more visitors from Social Bookmarking site like stumbleupon.

Tip#1 : Good Stumbler

First, you have to be a good stumbler in order to get the recognition of others. The key thing to remember is that you should never badmouth StumbleUpon. All participating stumblers have one main feature in common. This is that they are huge fans of StumbleUpon.

Tip #2 : Committed

You need to be committed to serving the site in every possible way if you want to get a good response; appear nice and at the same time natural in your approach. The other members will respect you if you are loyal.

Whenever possible make the effort to exceed expectations, and one thing you can is make your RSS feed buttons highly visible around your content. This will help you broaden your relationship with other users and give them a better way to connect with you.

You need to try and put your efforts into creating stronger connections within StumbleUpon, so that you don’t really need to put too much effort in the long run. The only way you can reach out and share solid information is if you can give them the kind of content they’re really looking for.

Tip#3 : Consistancy Pays

Be consistent in your efforts when working with StumbleUpon – nothing happens overnight. Just doing a little bit each day, taking action, will go far and work well if you do it. You cannot go against the grain of what works and is acceptable there.

So just prepare yourself to take it slow and expect to see your particular results in a little time – but it’s not terrible, either.

In conclusion, from the above article we come to understand how StumbleUpon can be used for generating targeted traffic to a website.

The reason why plenty of internet marketers don’t know about using StumbleUpon because it appears to be too hard to use. But, the fact is, using StumbleUpon effectively for your site’s promotion is pretty easy. You just need to have the right start to see long term results.

  1. Many say that StumbleUpon can bring a lot of traffic. However, I had suffered for over a year this is the number of visitors of this social network is almost non-existent. In fact, I’ve written the article correctly.

I do not know my fault. But, I will try to follow your advice to gain some visitors from StumbleUpon.

  2. Just like others, stumbleupon has been kind and sometimes not so much, but I haven’t seen the conversions. I do see traffic sometimes, but I am not sure how targeted that is.

Thanks for sharing some tips though. I will try following them next time I stumbleupon something!

  3. We just recently began to use StumbleUpon and quite frankly we are just stumbling around a bit ourselves, not knowing really what we are doing. However, we are noticing enough traffic from SU. So we are trying to really learn exactly how to use the medium effectively. Thanks for the post. Do you use Reddit or Digg? What do you think about them?

  4. StumbleUpon is a social media site that gives people the chance to find new and interesting things and guest what? It is a wonderful way to drive targeted traffic since it already get thousands of visitors to the site. People that go to StumbleUpon are searching for things that they can use. Your websites could transform into one of the very resources that they stumble upon.

  5. I have only been hearing about StumbleUpon but am not at all sure how it works for those trying to engage new blog readers or sell products or services to others.

From the post above it seems like StumbleUpon is rather similar to Twitter in the sense that one needs to truly become part of the community before others will gravitate towards what you have to say and products/services which you have to offer. It always helps to have general guidelines before venturing into something new online, especially with social media as the rules are vastly different for different applications (eg. Twitter vs Facebook)

One question though, can one engage with people you do not know (like with twitter) or can you only interact with those you personally know and invite (like facebook).

I personally find that it is more enjoyable to interact with people from all over the world and all walks of life as opposed to only interacting with those I knew a lifetime ago such as my colleagues from school. I therefore personally spend more time on Twitter than on Facebook.

My apologies for not joining StumbleUpon to find the answer to this question but I figure that many are familiar with how it works and how it needs to be used to ensure that it can become an effective and successful social network as well as a useful marketing tool for one’s blog/business/service in the future.

Lastly, any ideas on how to actually get started the right way once one has signed up and wants to start updating your profile or are the above rules of interaction, courtesy and consistency the most important aspects to remember here?

    Thanks and Regards
